Det Sgt Jerry Campbell and a bailiff seized the suspect after the shot. The incident occurred as Nathaniel Sanders, 34, stood arraigned with his brother on the murder charge. Administration proposes sweeping food stamp restrictions

The administration outlined a plan to limit food stamp aid to official poverty level families, potentially removing about 1 million households and saving roughly 1.2 billion dollars annually. It ties eligibility to yearly poverty figures with a 100 dollar month standard deduction, boosting gross income limits and affecting millions of recipients. It faces criticism from senators McGovern and Dole who urge broader reform rather than shrinking the program.
