All eastern Iowa college education instructors will meet at Cornell College this Saturday. Dr. Russell Jonas, executive secretary of the state board of examiners, will be principal speaker. Dr. F Y FP Ensign of the State University of Iowa will discuss Introductory Courses.
Harris, an 18 year old buyer for a Mason City packing firm, returned to the Fort Dodge sheriff's office claiming he was unaware a search had been conducted for him. He said he had been on a trip and did not realize he was the subject of any search.
47 year old farmer Andrey appa is said to have caught his hand in a cornpicker near here. He freed himself but left his hand in the machine. Gappa was alone when the accident happened and tore his arm loose at the wrist to prevent being pulled into the rollers.
A large fire gutted the Spry Brothers rain company building in Ottumwa blowing up to thousands of dollars in grain loss. The two story brick structure fed by sacks of grain burned quickly as flames engulfed the facility.
City judge and Democratic candidate James P. Gaffney urges Republican Tom Martin to publicly disclose his stance on the Townsend club movement. Gaffney says Martin has ties to local Townsend groups but fears alienating conservative Republicans if he speaks out.
Rudolph Moeller, 69, died at his farm home after being kicked by a cow during milking the prior night. He was found unconscious by his son, carried inside, and placed to bed. family reports he seemed well at midnight before the incident. Funeral services will be held here.

CHICAGO Oct 20 INS patrolman John Olson aged 47 was shot by three bandits who robbed a Metropolitan Life Insurance messenger of undisclosed funds as they left the company offices. The criminals fired from behind and escaped with the messenger’s money. NEW YORK Oct 20 INS bandits seized $50,000 in gems from a Waldorf Astoria jewelry store and bound Roy W Johnston and two employees before fleeing.

Richard H. Rowe, 53, died at his Wellman home after months of illness. He was born in Sacramento in 1885, moved to Wellman twelve years ago, and married Lefa Polton in 1928. Survived by wife, son John, and siblings, with services set for Saturday at his home.

Armour and Cudahy plants reopened under state troops while controversy over the 165 men continues unresolved.
A $75,000 blaze tore through the Derpo commission plant in Onawa Iowa destroying the building and two cars of dressed poultry and chickens.
