County takes over police reservists
The City of Washington relinquished its police reserve unit to the county Monday night. City Council repealed ordinance 513, transferring control to the sheriff and County Board of Supervisors while reservists continue night patrols with city police. They will be paid $3 per hour for four hours monthly.

Changed pleas void plans for trials in district court
Danny Clifford Garrett 19 of rural Richland changed his plea to guilty on a possession of marijuana charge in Washington County District Court. Sentencing set for Nov. 8. About 75 jurors were dismissed after the change. Roger D. Smith 22 of Washington pleaded guilty to a drunk driving charge with a 12 month deferred sentence and probation. Douglas F. Lavent failed to appear for an OMVAS trial. a bench warrant may follow. Grand jury returned true bills against Griffiths for income tax evasion totaling 4797 dollars for 1970 1971 1972 and 1973. The cases were turned over to County Attorney Bordwell for prosecution.

Wine executive testifies about Adcock payments
Mario Perelli-Minetti, head of the California Wine Association, testified that he paid former Iowa Liquor Control Commission Chairman Homer Adcock $20,000 a year from 1965 to 1971 at Adcock's insistence and for what he said was the good of the party. He said Adcock volunteered his services while the two sought a replacement for a former Iowa liquor official.
