A Newton Iowa 17 year old student earned top honors as a livestock judge in a five state range. He also plays right guard for Newton High School football and won the judges decision yesterday.
Coroner W F Welley will hold a 7 20 p m Monday in Davenport city hall to investigate the death of Mildred Rath 16 daughter of Mr and Mrs John Rath of 2623 Harrison street who was fatally injured at 1 a m Saturday when an auto went out of control into a ditch after the accelerator jammed near the Rockingham road Y. Three companions were hurt in the crash.
Cedar Rapids child, 14 months old, died after drinking kerosene from a kitchen floor bottle. The kerosene was stored in the home by the father, Ben McDonough, for stove use.
Luther college diamond jubilee drew over 3000 attendees as gifts totaling more than 50 000 were presented Sunday during religious services concluding the festival.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian church and the Women’s Relief Corps.

Born Alsace Lorraine October 6 1876 married Widmer then Roth. Survived by husband C H Roth and four stepchildren Jesse Seth Naszinger Mary Krabill.
Mrs Carrie Blake of 608 North Second avenue received visitors Saturday from Davenport. Mr Harry England, his wife, their son Eugene, daughter Mrs Margaret Bonham and two young granddaughters Joan and Barbara spent the day with the Blake family.
