Chest Starts 24th Campaign for Community Chest Drive

Look Magazine to Close Des Moines Operations

Look Magazine ends with the final issue this week and closes its Des Moines facilities next year. About 800 local employees are being phased out, with Time Inc purchasing five Look buildings for 2.9 million dollars. Harp master thrills Washington concertgoers in season opener

Daphne Hellman Trio opened the Washington Concert Association season at the high school. Hellman demonstrated harp capacities from Bach to Boogie Woogie and invited the audience on stage. Edward Berg on guitar and Jack Lesberg on bass complemented solos, duets, and trios, with Lesberg’s bass standout in a Boogie Woogie number. The program mixed classics with jazz and Beatle medleys, delighting a diverse audience including many youths. The performance was praised as a model concert to boost future memberships.
