Four Selective Service calls in November amid draft suspension
The Selective Service Office announced four men will be called in November, raising the monthly total due to the renewal of the national draft suspension. Local boards were told not to exceed 125 in the 1971 lottery and about 10,000 men are expected to be drafted in the year’s final quarter. The Nov 16 deployment brings the year’s lottery to 85.

Iowa AG OKs state funds for Osteopathic College project
Iowa Attorney General Richard Turner ruled state support of the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines would be for the public good, not private gain. The plan to earmark 500000 for planning and building a new medical school will require only a simple majority when reconsidered in 1972, removing the two thirds requirement.
