Escaped Prisoner Found Alive After Death Telegram
Earl Law 44 escaped from Cherokee prison farm while serving a 15 year term for forgery. Parents in Keokuk were informed by telegram of his death but Sheriff James Smith and Deputy Dick Payne found him alive in a Cedar River weed patch near an old quarry two miles south of here. The AAA announced approval by Secretary Wallace of a four year rye adjustment plan to cut production 25 percent from 1936 to 1939. Farmers will revive adjustment payments in returning for harvesting as grain only 75 percent of their average recent acreage.
