Farm Bureau airs health care costs and rural doctor concerns
William A. Guy of Iowa Blue Cross-Blue Shield spoke at the 54th Washington County Farm Bureau meeting urging civic action on rising health care costs. He warned of doctor shortages in rural areas within a decade and supported group practice. Negotiators from Jowa Southern Utilities and local 735 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers met in Ottumwa with a federal mediator to outline dispute points. A union spokesman said a follow up meeting is planned for Monday as ISU personnel remain on strike for a eleventh day. Water geysers on the moon observed by a Rice University scientist suggest the lunar surface is not inert, with instruments recording a 14 hour event last March 7. Community Chest Drive reaches 40 percent of its goal at $14,495.17 with residential division still to begin fundraising Monday.
