Farmer killed by bull on Strawberry Point farm
Charles Lincoln a 56 year old farmer and father of 11 was killed Wednesday night when a bull attacked as he herded cows to the barn. He died en route to Manchester hospital from a crushed chest.

County corn and bean harvest outlook for year
County extension agent Jim Frier reports corn may average near 100 bushels per acre with 50 to 55 thousand bean acres and a soybean yield around 36 bushels per acre. Cargill Plant Ends Third Shift As Bean Harvest Nears End
Newell Bendickson says Cargill Washington plant will drop its seasonal third shift at midnight and stop unloading soybeans by 8 am Friday. Rumors say plant may stop taking beans Saturday as harvest speeds up due to good weather and a longshoremen strike limiting river bids. About 175 trucks daily have hauled beans here, with yields improving from 35 to 45 bushels per acre thanks to certified seeds.
