Two Cars and Truck Involved In Washington Highway 92 Crash
A two car and truck accident occurred about %1 miles west of Washington on highway 92. No injuries were reported. Lloyd W. Wilson drove the truck for Farm Service Co. of Washington. Martin J. Longwell and Duane C. Forinash were the two car drivers. Forinash tried to pass and misjudged distance, forcing him to cut back and strike Longwell’s car as the truck could not stop. Damage ran into the hundreds of dollars.

Federal Judge Carroll Switzer fined Karl Harken, 51, Richland meat processor, 7500 dollars for income tax evasion. Harken pled no defense. He received a suspended one year sentence in addition to the fine. Prosecutors said he evaded over 14000 dollars in taxes for 1944 and 1945, the 1944 count being dismissed.

Tragic 4-H Leader Ralph Knotek Killed in Tractor Accident
Fifteen year old Ralph Joseph Knotek son of John C and Marie Knotek eight miles northeast of Washington died when a tractor overturned on his father s farm. The boy active in 4 H work and president of the Jackson Boys club was pinned beneath the machine after moving hog houses. Neighbors Robert Kron and Lewis Horak found the overturned tractor and notified the family. Funeral services are set for Tuesday at St James Church with a rosary Monday at Jones Funeral Home. Burial will be Elm Grove Cemetery.
