Dan Klopfenstein of this city was injured when a runaway wagon overturned near Miles in Clinton County. He sustained a broken left arm two bruises and cuts on his head and body while three companions escaped with minor injuries. He returned home last evening and may be unable to travel soon.
Edwin S. Mayer informs attorney Henry Richer that Leon Mayer former Washington county clothing businessman died in New York City. Mayer came to the area in 1856 and formed Mayer & Rich. later moved to Iowa City then New York to live with daughter Mrs Bayer. He leaves son Max and three daughters. age about seventy five. Washington friends extend sympathy.

Word arrived of the death of Mrs. Wm Todd at Steubenville Ohio yesterday morning She was an early county settler with her husband who died years ago They built the home on the Heights now occupied by County Missionary Howland She had been frail after a stroke a year ago The remains will arrive tomorrow and the funeral will be at the old homestead.
About 3,000 residents heard Bryan speak yesterday at Columbus Junior, a brief five minute address delivered from the rear of his special coach before he departed at 2 25 for Cedar Rapids.
A Richmond Republican gathering featured a speech in Bohemian by Ruzicha of Chicago. Col. Palmer and County Attorney Brookhart spoke. local attendees included Neal Ashby Lytle Bailey Neal and VanSickle. J S Black was arrested Saturday for assault on J W Kilgore after a road encounter. Black armed with a home made billy and was beaten by Kilgore. Black pled not guilty and hearing set for Monday.

The forecast from The Weather Bureau in Washington reports increasing cloudiness and local rains tonight in west and central Iowa with more rain Saturday. Warmer conditions are expected in the east and central portions tonight, while cooler air moves into the west Saturday.
Last evening at five o clock Chas S Marr and Miss May I Goble both residents north of Ainsworth were married by Squire Rogers. The bride sixteen wore brown while the groom seven years older looked handsome. Witnesses were the bride's mother and Robi Me Connaughey of this city. A sister of the bride wed by Squire Rogers a year ago. Journal sends best wishes.

Daniel Eicher, visiting Burlington to celebrate Bryan Day, joked about his father’s pocket being picked. Later that day a light fingered Wilkes supposedly stole fifteen dollars and a railroad ticket from Eicher’s pocket. He reportedly took the loss lightly.
The Fourth ward youths led by Charles Hicks Charles Davis Mack De Long Herman Wallace and Willis Turner gathered to saw winter wood for Mrs Mat Donahey and her daughter The community also issued marriage licenses to Frank Strabala and Alice I Shnoeblin and to Charles G Marr and Ida M Goble yesterday evening.
