Crowds flocked to the Burlington office as fifty five to one hundred fifty seven tickets were sold for the Great Bay Orator of the Platte event. The piece lists election clerks and judges for numerous county townships and previews the upcoming November election duties.
The court allowed the board of commissioners at the Marshalltown Soldiers Home to use excess pension money for the home’s maintenance. Inmates had sought to block the rules, but a permanent injunction barred pension appropriation to the home funds. The decision emphasizes aiding truly needy disabled or diseased soldiers while preventing richer veterans from depleting pension support.
The Baptist church youth group has invited Chicago lecturer Dr. P. Henson to speak on The Better Half in Graham on Friday evening October 16. The committee asks city residents to support the event, promising a pleasant and profitable program and worthy cause.
