Chinchow II Bombed Jap Planes Attack City

United Press reports renewed hostilities in Manchuria as 12 Japanese planes bombed the temporary Chinese capital Chinchow. Exiled Chinese evacuees fled the city while Tokyo warned Nanking Japan would hold China responsible for life and property. Japan dispatched about 20 warships and smaller vessels to ports and coastal cities.

Steal 8000 At Iowa Farm Home

Three bandits robbed the Miller homestead near New Hampton Iowa on Tuesday night forcing the four family members to reveal a box containing their life savings of 8000 dollars. The family was bound as the raiders escaped with 1200 dollars in gold and 6700 in currency. Police searched for the attackers as neighbors described the Millers as well off.

Eight Kidnapping Suspects Held in Minnesota Case

In St Paul on October 8 authorities held eight kidnapping suspects after a brutal incident in which Morris Rutman was thrown from a moving truck and severely burned by burning alcohol. He survived and was hospitalized for treatment.

Final approval for tax levies by county board of supervisors

County board approves final tax levies for the new year with a total county and state levy of 42.75 mills and $276,470 to be collected. Nine mills are state levy, the rest county, funding road maintenance and construction.
