Des Moines lawyer Donald D. Holdoegel 43 district enforcement attorney for the Des Moines office of price administration was hospitalized with infantile paralysis. He was moved from Mergy hospital to Broadlawns after diagnosis showed paralysis in both legs a stiff back and neck rigidity.
Senator Guy M. Gillette arrived in Des Moines from Washington to begin his bid for reelection. He will address a noon meeting in Knoxville and speak in Ottumwa Tuesday night, with stops planned in Burlington Wednesday, Marshalltown Friday, and Des Moines Saturday.
The Iowa school code commission issued a 18 month study urging 19 bills for the 1945 legislature. It calls for a 12 million annual state aid fund to ease local property taxes and a reorganization of the public instruction department with a state board naming the state superintendent. Additional proposals include a shared pension plan and raising the teachers minimum wage from 65 to 80 dollars monthly.
The last of four escapees from the state reformatory at Anamosa was found guilty of assault with intent to commit murder. Two others were convicted on the same charge and the fourth was found guilty of manslaughter. District Judge Floyd Philbrick will sentence them Monday.
Bernice Suhr, 19, died in Davenport after being critically injured Thursday near Walcott in an auto truck crash that claimed the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Reynold Dietz of Walcott. She died Friday afternoon in a local hospital.
Police investigate a Thursday night incident near the May-Woo club on Highway 60 at Webster City where 21 year old Shirley Riles was found with severe injuries. She was treated at Hamilton county hospital for skull and jaw fractures and possible internal injuries as officers review whether she fell or was pushed from another vehicle. Wayne Kramer reported his car struck a body by the road but was not detained. Further inquiries target her whereabouts earlier Thursday night.
Governor Thomas E K Dewey will deliver an address tonight in Charleston West Virginia. The broadcast on the Columbia network begins at 8 45 Iowa time and will be heard on Iowa stations WMT and KRNT among others.

Wilbur Zelinski 35 of near Brighton died this morning at Jefferson County Hospital after a stroke Tuesday. Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday at the Polish Catholic church southwest of Brighton, Rev. Paul Wetzstein presiding. Burial in the adjacent cemetery. Survived by his father Joseph Zelinski and siblings Edmund and Mrs Leo Deutsch. mother and one sister preceded him. Born March 1909, he lived on the family farm southwest of Brighton. Body at F A Hoskins Funeral Home, Brighton.
Thelma Knight files in district court for divorce from Clyde Knight claiming marriage at Brighton on September 30 1936 and separation in June 1943 with five minor children. She seeks alimony of 50 dollars monthly and child support of 20 dollars monthly. L J Kehoe represents the plaintiff.

Richard Stephens was re elected president of the Washington County Farm Bureau at the annual meeting held today in the Methodist church. Officers elected included Henry Miller as vice president Lloyd Marek secretary W C Richards treasurer William Gaiman young delegate Richard Stephens alternate voting delegate and Mrs Merle Twinam chairman of the women s committee. Township directors were named for each township with several individuals named to lead women s township chairmen roles. Reports from the past year highlighted a productive extension program focused on helping farmers increase output with minimal time and effort.
At a meeting yesterday the Washington county hospital board elected Brenda Frisk of Galesburg Illinois as superintendent. She will arrive next week to assume duties replacing Grace Waller who resigned last month. Frisk previously led Skiff hospital Newton Iowa for nine years and was seen favorably by Newton physicians and board members.
Washington County reports $5265 raised for the national war fund with Lee Holland leading in downtown solicitations at $101. Two solicitors yet to file are rumored to have $200 or more. Valley towns begin drives. Wellman has reported early totals.
