Driver Indicted for Operating Liquor Truck While Intoxicated
AVOCA Leslie Ballou age 45 former Iowa liquor control commission truck driver was indicted by a grand jury on operating a liquor truck while intoxicated. He was arrested by Iowa highway patrol last Aug 22 five miles east of Oakland after his rig jackknifed blocking traffic en route to Des Moines with wine from Council Bluffs.

Two Are Accused in Buying of Stolen Tires
Dale Clark and Fred McCoy filling station operators were arraigned on charges of buying stolen property after purchasing eight tires and wheels from Wayman Loyd Reid a 17 year old discharged sailor. Both pleaded innocent and are held on $500 bonds for Friday hearing. Reid from Honey Grove Texas claimed navy enlistment at 15 and admitted stealing three cars and selling ten tires, all recovered.

Clinton Man Victim In Hunting Accident
Marvin Carlson 37 of Clinton was found Tuesday night on Beaver Island near his home with a shotgun wound to the head, reportedly self inflicted during a hunting trip. Coroner Ki L. Martindale said no inquest will be held. Carlson worked as a machinist at Climax Engineering Co. Survivors include his mother six sisters and a brother, all of Clinton.
