Washington county welfare office selects five men for new forestation camp work to be recruited at Burlington on Friday Oct 13. About 100 applicants for county posts, with re enrollment beginning Oct 5 across Iowa and county quotas listed for numerous counties.
Internal Revenue Collector Charles D. Huston reports that Iowans paid 152671 dollars in wheat and cotton processing taxes for September. Total revenue for the office that month reached 1,160,048, with individual income taxes at 253,479 and corporation taxes at 296,863, among others.
Otto Wendling of Conesville secured a $1295 contract to refloor the Skunk river bridge west of Coppock. Work to be completed by November 1, 1933, with shared funding from Washington Jefferson and Henry counties. The 300 foot bridge spans multiple counties and involves old lumber reuse. Jefferson County engineer M H Bryant will supervise the flooring work.

The L. A. Jones funeral home cannot locate any relatives of a man fatally injured by a Rock Island train near Perlee Sunday. He died at the hospital Monday morning and is believed to be Otis Wray of Nelson Illinois, identification confirmed after contacting Rockford authorities. The body remains at the Jones funeral home.
Iowa weather officials warn of a general heavy frost tonight with crops wet from recent dampness. The report notes clear cool conditions, a 82 degree high at Sioux City and 44 at Dow City, and says frost may come about a week earlier than average.
