242 Registered for Employment at Washington County Office
Unemployed men totaling 242 are registered at the national re employment office in the Washington county courthouse after the September business. The office opened September 7 with Edwin Griffith as manager and Mary Ellen Mickey as assistant. Five permanent jobs have been found, four others secured by registrants, and six placed in temporary positions. The office urges all registered men who find work to report and to notify the office when they can offer employment to others. Of the 242, 166 are self sustaining while the rest seek emergency relief. About 100 additional men are registered for emergency relief but have not yet come in for registration and conference to complete records. The registrants range from farm and clerical work to concrete paving and other public works tasks.
