Iowa Soldier Receives Dieppe Raid Medal

Mrs Mary Ann Cowden aged 79 widow of Dr A M Cowden died peacefully in her Washington home at 215 East Jefferson after five years of declining health and three months bedfast. Funeral at 10 Monday at L A Jones funeral home with Dr F W Eastwood of the Presbyterian church officiating. Bur ial in Crawfordsville Cemetery. She was born December 2 1862 in Crawfordsville to John W and Mary Crawford and was granddaughter of Dr Isaac Crawford a pioneer namesake of the town. Surviving: daughter Margaret Cowden a missionary in Tehran Iran and son Bruce Cowden of Washington. She helped in the United Presbyterian church most of her life and taught Sabbath school before ill health stopped.
