The state executive council awarded Des Moines Rubber Stamp Co. a contract for 70,000 chauffeurs badges at 46.42 dollars per 1,000. The badges are issued to holders of state chauffeurs licenses.

The election runs 11 30 to 12 00 Saturday October 7 at the local post office with similar votes scheduled October 6 7 at Grinnell Creston Osceola Centerville Ottumwa and Burlington. Foremen clerical and sales workers are excluded. If results show insufficient union activity across the ISU system the Board may review the district unit. The company will not negotiate until a bargaining agent is certified.
Mrs V I Brown reports sister Margaret Doolittle has moved into the P E O home at Mount Pleasant after a long wait list. Doolittle described the home as congenial with friendly occupants and noted a farewell tea for her before departure. She had been living with her sister and felt lonely after Laurie's death, seeking companionship among many residents.

Joan Gerdes a Washington high school junior was struck by a car driven by fellow student John Rothlisberger near the R L Livingston home as they returned from a Sunset park picnic. Gerdes suffered abrasions and bruises, was taken to the county hospital, and was expected to be released soon.
Charles Johnson twenty one, of Otumwa, was killed while walking on the Morrell packing plant construction site. He was struck on the head by a descending elevator during the workday.
