Norma Jean Main five year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Oren Main farmers north of Reasnor Iowa was revived Tuesday by Dr Frank Carpenter of Reasnor after being found unconscious in a water tank at home.
Local Christmas seal sale workers join delegates from ten southeastern Iowa counties in Mt. Pleasant for a regional seal sale institute and luncheon led by Iowa Tuberculosis association staff. St. Peter's church in Keokuk to mark its 100th anniversary next Sunday with a program for Catholic church members from Iowa and nearby Illinois.
In Phelps county north area R Marshall and Ora Marshall harvest a good mess of roasting ears from 20 acres. A separate family claims 40 acres produced enough ears for a meal. Drought in Phelps county nearly makes the corn crop a total loss.
Gov Clyde L Herring designated October 7 to 12 as Fire Prevention Week urging every Iowa citizen to observe the event and practice year round fire safety. The proclamation calls for active cooperation to conserve life and property across the state.
More than 1 500 pupils and teachers are expected to march in the eleventh annual Sunday school parade at Shenandoah Oct 7. Teachers will be honored Sunday night in a program at the Baptist church with Rev Willard Wickhizer of Maryville Mo as speaker.
A total of 200000 fish were sieved from a quarry at Montpelier by a deputy game warden and released into the Mississippi. Water for the operation was pumped from the quarry by the Putnam Company of Bellevue. Included among the fish were of eight and one half nine pounds in weight. Other fish were sunfish and crappies of various sizes.
Charles James, 60, awaiting sentencing for his ex wife Myrtle James murder, made a failed attempt to take his own life by striking his head against a radiator in his cell yesterday as other prisoners called for officials.
Judge A NR Lovejoy in Independence refused to compel Rowley to issue a license to Prank Hare for a retail beer shop. Citizens must seek beer abroad or brew their own as local supply remains restricted amid the controversy.
The executive committee asks Harold M. Cooner to urge the commission to return funds advanced by the legislature to resume operations. The committee says the system can be self sustaining and demonstrates business viability with stable state control.
Wilbur F. Gardner of near Ainsworth died at his home at 8 20 P M after years of ill health. Funeral services will be at 2 20 P M tomorrow at the Methodist church in Ainsworth with Rev E J Shook in charge. Burial will be in Ainsworth cemetery. He was born May 1 1852 in Porterville Pa and moved to Highland township in 1864. He married Sarah Melissa Meek on April 19 1866. Surviving are daughters Bella Gardner Eva Crawford Stella Creitz Pearl Gardner and son Corbin Crawford plus grandchildren and one great grandchild. Three brothers and a sister also survive.
Lindbergh kidnaping suspect Bruno Hauptmann is scheduled for trial on October 11 in Bronx County on an extortion charge of 50 000 from Col. Charles A. Lindbergh. New Jersey authorities seek extradition to pursue harsher charges.
Des Moines doctor A A Sandy, a former local physician, will speak at the Four Square Tabernacle this weekend. Saturday service starts 7 30 p m and Sunday services at 12 00 and 7 20 p m with Sandy delivering remarks.

Washington October 2 The recovery administration aims to set regular yearly wages for American workers after its first formal meeting. The board plans to seek legislation to guarantee a yearly income for all workers to protect their families as factory output fluctuates.
In Chicago on an October day, prosecutors and defense agreed to four prospective jurors as a new panel was selected for the Samuel Insull mail fraud trial alongside 16 co defendants. Defense questions each juror as the rapid selection continued.
Nev, Oct 3. Pentecostal evangelist Plotts convicted by county court jury for creating a public nuisance by leaving his congregation and singing loudly in public. Local officials and witnesses testified to the disruption caused during services.
A Nichols High School softball player Nash 14 was killed in a traffic crash near Conesville along highway 76. Three other teens died at the scene or en route to Muscatine, with several others injured. The accident involved a road equipment trailer and occurred in front of the Shellabarger farm.

Man and piano player along with Eddie Mangus who played banjo for the meetings were acquitted of similar charges. Sentence for Platts will be pronounced Saturday.

George Purdy, manager of the shoe department at Montgomery Ward for the past year, is transferred to the Waterloo store to lead its shoe department. W J Nottger replaces Purdy here, having spent two years with Montgomery Ward. he is from Waterloo.
