Franklin D. Roosevelt former assistant secretary of the navy was nominated for governor by the Democratic state convention in Rochester. He will run against Republican nominee Albert Stinger to fill the post vacated by Governor Alfred E. Smith as he campaigns for the presidency. Royal S. Copeland was nominated to succeed himself as U.S. senator. Smith plans to travel to Albany after the convention, following his western campaign and delivering a harsh critique of Republicans as obstructors of progress.
