Jone Des Moines Oct 3 Most of the immature corn was halted in growth and damaged by killing frosts the last week, says a weekly crops bulletin by government meteorologist Charles D Reed. Only about 15 percent damaged, varying from slight to half a bushel value, mostly in late planted or hail areas along the Mississippi river.

The Will Fritz family from south of Brighton were badly injured in a head on crash near Danville while returning from Burlington.
