Richland to Get Funds for Sewer Development
The Farmers Home Administration approved a loan of 378000 dollars and a grant of 150000 dollars to the Town of Richland in Keokuk County Iowa to build a sewage disposal system. Richland will install a waste collection system and disposal facility to serve about 250 homes businesses and other establishments. The loan will be repaid over 40 years at 5 percent interest. Funding is provided under the Rural Development Act of 1972 by the FHA, a Department of Agriculture rural credit service.

Area law enforcement logged three traffic crashes Friday. A William Palmer Washington driver lost control on snow near Highway 92 three miles east of Washington, hitting a utility pole with $300 to $400 in damage and no injuries. Lois F. Richardson backed into Gary L. Roberts on 210 North Second at 1 10 p.m. causing $425 damage. Deborah Gould and Gary Huston, rural Washington residents, collided on South Fourth Avenue at 10 47 p.m. with both cars parked nearby and about $400 damage.

An overheated chemical tank exploded five times within an hour at the Goodyear synthetic rubber plant near Beaumont Texas. Ten people were injured. no fatalities were reported. The blasts damaged homes up to six miles away and melted a tall support, as authorities evacuated residents and isolated gas lines.
