Holiday traffic toll climbs during long Thanksgiving weekend
United Press International reports the nation's highway death toll mounting slowly on the third day of the Thanksgiving weekend. Through 6 a.m. EST 176 have died in traffic since Wednesday. California leads with 16 deaths, and notable crashes occur in Georgia Rhode Island and Virginia. An 88 year old Dallas man choked on a turkey bone during dinner. The council expects 700 to 800 more deaths to occur before midnight Sunday.

Seventeen Czech Defect During Austrian Tour

Senior businessman Joseph Falk dies at 78 in Washington
Joseph Falk, 78, Washington clothier and longtime resident, died at Washington County Hospital this morning November 28 1969. Born in Germany September 18 1891, he came to the United States in 1915 and built a long retail career here. Survived by wife Bertha Herz Falk four children thirteen grandchildren and several siblings. Funeral Sunday at 4 pm at Jones Funeral Home with Rabbi Rosenfeld officiating. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.

IUF Calls Global Boycott Against Iowa Beef Packers
The International Union of Food Workers Associations urged affiliates worldwide to refuse handling Iowa Beef Packers products amid the three month old strike by Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workers of North America. The union says a nationwide U.S. boycott is in effect and stronger actions are possible if the dispute, over good faith negotiations, remains unresolved. It accuses the company of blocking talks and suing workers for 10 million dollars while importing strikebreakers, including Mexican Americans, and trenching around the Dakota City plant to confine them.
