Two Tacoma riders trek coast to coast on horse back
Ted Friesz and Leonard Ott, both from Tacoma, Washington, arrived in Seattle and continued toward New York City on a 3600 mile horseback journey begun May 16 1964 from the Seattle World's Fair. They carry letters from governors and mayors, plan to seek a letter from Seattle mayor, and report progress across six states with about 95 days on the road. They travel about 25 miles daily with horses carrying 320 pounds, have not yet had a shoe failure, and rely on friendly locals for lodging.

Earl Hoover Dies at Brighton After Heart Attack
Earl Hoover 63 died suddenly Friday at 1:30 p m at his Brighton home after a heart attack. Funeral arrangements pending. He lived in Brighton his whole life and ran a local feed mill. Born October 1, 1901, son of Thomas and Jennie Hoover. He married Luella Chapman in 1937. she died in 1947. He was a Knights of Pythias member. Survived by brothers Frank of Mt. Sterling and Leo of Washington.
