U S Officer Wounded in Viet Nam Jungle Fight
In Quang Tri Province a U S Army officer was wounded lightly as anti Communist guerrillas clashed with government forces. The main battle late Thursday left 15 Rebels dead and 20 government troops wounded. six other government troops were killed. A bomb near the American aid mission in Saigon caused no injuries. Saigon shut four newspapers for 20 days for alleged efforts to stir public opinion against national security. Prime Minister Van Huuong blamed Communist agitators and rival politicians for the violence threatening his civilian government.

Four teens die in Iawa Thanksgiving crash
A Webster County Thanksgiving night wrecks left four Fort Dodge youths dead. Two cars returning from a Lehigh wedding collided on separate routes near Fort Dodge, killing three in one car and one in the other. Victims were 17 year olds Frederick Wickman Tony Sanders Russell Wittee Terry Taylor. Other riders survived in fair condition with several treated and released. The deaths raised Iowa’s holiday toll to eight.

A bi national admiralty court will probe how the Israeli liner Shalom and the Norwegian tanker Stolt Dagali collided off Asbury Park New Jersey in international waters. Nineteen crewmen aboard the Stolt Dagali died thirteen bodies recovered and six men remain missing. Rescue efforts ended with forty four survivors aboard the Shalom including one injured passenger and crew member.
