Jess Seagar a 46 year old Denmark farmer died after a bed fire fatally wounding him. He was rushed to Sacred Heart hospital in Fort Madison where he succumbed several hours later.
Shirley Mae Ludwig, 10 months old, was strangled by a peanut lodged in her windpipe. She died during surgery to remove the obstruction. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Ludwig of Sioux City.
Robert Ward nineteen year old hunter was shot in the knee as he was exiting his car. The bullet entered the knee and was removed at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital.
Estherville Emmet county sportsmen are invited to join the season’s second fox hunt per deputy game warden F. H. Davis. Foxes are being killed to save pheasants and poultry stocks.
Ames John Stevenson 49 of Boone injured by coal gas after a minor explosion in a North Western locomotive fire box. He was treated at Mary Greeley hospital and not seriously affected.
A Charles City postman notes increased mail for Mrs. Hazel Billett and her husband after a domestic dispute with Miss Audrey Preston. The trio, involving the "eternal triangle," met for a conference in the county jail to work out a solution.
State tax board chairman Louis Roddewigze said 100 residents will incur a 5 percent tax penalty plus 1 percent for each month the tax remains unpaid on interest from public bonds. The U S Supreme Court recently upheld the state's right to tax interest on public bonds.
Four month-old twins Helen and Hertha Copelin and their 2-year-old sister Anna Margareta are leaving Davenport for New York to travel to Hamburg unaccompanied. Their father Henry Coelin, a Bettendorf foundry worker, says he cannot care for them after his wife's death and will send them to their grandfather in Weasselburne Schleswig Holstein.
Albert Anderson and Paul Stoddard, ages 28 and 24, clung to the Mississippi ice for 15 minutes after venturing onto thin ice. Residents Frank and Mrs Fiedler watched as firemen used ladders boards and a canoe to reach and drag them ashore.
Mason City mourns Dr. W. E. Long a 66 year old former state representative and longtime Cerro Gordo county coroner. He died at a local hospital after suffering a stroke in his office hours after responding to the downtown blaze that caused $200 000 in damage.
Gov. Nelson Kraschel told the U S Senate Relief Investigating Committee that Iowa’s relief problem has grown to beyond emergency status. The Iowa Emergency Relief Administration report shows 220000 people, 10 of 100, rely on public funds, with 45% on relief four years or more and 90% on aid more than half the time since first assistance. The study covers 1933 to 1937, with $37 million spent, 49% federal, 32% local, 19% state.
The Methodist Ladies Aid plans a December 1 bazaar with a turkey dinner served from 5 pm and unit driven booths for candy, novelties, aprons and country foods. Money donations support units 3 9 1 9 2 and an antique booth. Private dinner reservations can be made through Mrs EK E. Stutsman.

Washington based dispatch reports Sen Elmer Thomas Oklahoma leading a drive to cheapen the dollar to lift commodity prices. The reform bloc aims to use 1934 powers to alter gold content and issue currency to spur farm and factory activity, with South Carolina Democrat Smith among leaders.
In Claymont Delaware three bandits attempted a daylight bank robbery but Miss Esther Gray, a book-keeper, halted the effort by releasing tear gas as one robber leaped the counter. The men fled empty handed.
Federal expenditures surpassed 3 billion dollars for the first time since the fiscal year began July 1. As of November 23, total government outlays reached 3,005,890,210 dollars, about 200 thousand dollars more than the same period last year.
R C Heald of Quincy joins Milo Sorden to lead singing at the Midwest regional Y's Men convention opening tomorrow. Heald helping organize a Quincy Y's Men's club and brings prospects from Quincy. Sorden, the local song leader, directs Saturday noon and teams with Heald for Saturday night performances.
Stratesboro, Ga., Nov. 25. Miss Marie Dougherty, accused by police as an accessory in her father's murder, is under arrest. Grand jury warrants were sworn for her and four men after the father’s body, shot four times, was found in a swamp near his home. Police say a plot to gain control of his $200,000 estate was involved, though specifics were not disclosed.
Fred McGugin of Enid Oklahoma has been visiting relatives in Washington for three weeks and plans to return home early next week.
Washington officials indicate the corn loan program may be used to pressure Congress to back the administration farm bill. Iowa Democrat Edward C. Eicher notes no final policy until a farm bill is passed and protests the soil conservation linkage. Rep Vincent Herrington plans to press to extend loans to all Iowa farmers amid fears 50 percent could be cut under current policy.
Yesterday afternoon the farmer's Mutual fire truck responded to a grass fire near the Crone slaughter house west of town. Harvey Meek drove the truck and extinguished the blaze with no damage reported.
Two bandits robbed the Starvard State bank at Goodwine Illinois and abducted a bank employee, fleeing toward Indiana with 700 dollars. The employee George Dauer 25 a bookkeeper was released unharmed five miles from the bank. A larger vault sum was not taken.
In San Francisco a cafe entertainer named Thelma Gautier died after leaping seven stories from a hotel window. Police report she phoned a female friend moments before the plunge saying you will hear all about me in the morning papers.

Two Republicans Hope and Gilchrist joined 14 Democrats in supporting the bill.

Belleville dispatch reports Mrs. Marie Porter and Angelo Giancola both of St. Louis were sentenced to die in the electric chair on December 17 for the murder of Mrs. Porter's brother William Katten, a 37 year old electrician, in a case tied to insurance.
