Two local taverns hit in separate break-ins
City police report two taverns, the Diamond Inn at 1056 West Madison and Tony's Place at 331 North Fourth, broken into early Wednesday. Entry was via a pried rear window. Tony's Place owner Herman Behrend cites about 475 lost, roughly 400 in change. Diamond Inn owner Edgar Knepp lists about 14 from the cash register. Police continue investigating.
