A retailer advertises handkerchiefs priced from 2c to 30c with selections including 40 dozen for Sc, embroidered and linen initial handkerchiefs. Highlights include fine pieces retailing as high as 30c and new styles never seen under 50c.
A rumor spread about a diphtheria case at Engineer McGugin’s East Main street home. Dr. Hull said Marguerite McGugin has a mild illness diagnosed as follicular tonsillitis or pseudo diphtheria with normal temperature, likely to recover in days, while other children stayed with grandmother and precautions were taken to prevent spread.
Washington audiences enjoyed a compelling Merchant of Venice with Walker Whiteside as Shylock and Lucia Moore as Portia praised for perfection. Supporting turns by Herbert Pattee and Edwin Tanner received solid notices despite a cold crowd and only minor cuts for doubling.

Boston based Temple Quartette performed to a near full auditorium opening the annual I W U lecture course. Tickets for the year are reportedly the largest on record as audiences enjoyed an artistic program and Miss Ridgeway readings with encores. Mrs J W Hull attended in Washington.
