Delinquent Tax Sale Listed by County Treasurer
County Treasurer Marion George today issued his official notice of the delinquent tax sale to be held at his office on Monday December 3. The list numbers about 1500 items, making it one of the longest in recent years, with four and three quarters pages in the Journal. More than 84000 dollars have been paid this week toward taxes, including 14222.54 from the Rock Island railway company for 1954 first half taxes, enabling refunds to property owners. Refunds total 4590.74 on state tax across 1653 items, ranging from one cent upward. The refund schedule will be available at the treasurer’s office next week. The process has kept the office busy with long hours and extra work through the week.
