King Benjamin Purnell held on assault warrants at House of David
Benton Harbor Mich November 17 King Benjamin Purnell head of the House of David was arrested on warrants charging assault against two former girl members of the colony. He was released on a $50 000 bond but re arrested when Circuit Judge Charles E White ruled the bond worthless. The colony hotel was used as security and deeds were later questioned as the property was held in trust. Prosecutor George H Bookwalter said Purnell would be brought back to justice court and cash bonds would be sought.

Heinz officials seek farmers to grow tomatoes near Washington
M. F. Taylor and N. J. Simpson of the H. J. Heinz company toured Washington to gauge interest in expanding tomato acreage from 150 to 250 acres next season. A receiving station may be opened if enough land is pledged within six miles. Farmers sign contracts for definite acreages, receive plants at cost, and are supervised by a company field man. Tomato yields run eight to ten tons per season with payments of 14 per ton on delivery.
