Rebecca Sowash Dead At West Des Moines Home
Rebecca Sowash an old Washington County resident died Saturday evening at eight at the family home seven miles west of the city after a short illness. She was eighty three years old, born in Mercer County Pennsylvania, October 26 1842. She came to Iowa in 1855 with her husband and helped settle the area near the old homestead. Surviving children include Miles Bradford of the city plus sons James William and Alva. Funeral was held at 10 o clock this morning at the son James’s residence with Rev Whitehill of West Chester officiating. interment at the old cemetery.
