Burglary Ring Captured Near Ainsworth by Sheriff Teeter

Three suspects named Hagerty Welch and Sutherland were arrested after breaking into James Kemp's home near Ainsworth. They fled toward Columbus Junction but were cornered under a depot and taken to justice Pear son. The trio faced 500 bonds and await the next court session. Sheriff Teeter praised local vigilance and offered a $25 reward for arrests in burglary cases.

Marriage of Anna Batterson to Bun W. Willson Held at Home

Twenty four relatives and friends gathered at Oliver Todd’s residence to witness the marriage of Miss Anna Batterson of the city to Mr Bun W Willson of Muscatine. The ceremony was conducted by Squire C B Rogers. The bride wore black satin and carried flowers. A wedding supper followed as guests extended congratulations. Mr Willson, a blacksmith, will reside with his wife in Muscatine.

Ballot Counts Narrow in County Results Across Offices

The Board of Supervisors completed ballot tallies from townships. McKinley electors led Bryan electors by about 500 on average. County results show small changes, with Samuel M. Clark 2865 and Labert M. Casey 2300 for Congress, Ashby 2865 over Samuel Mannatt Jr. 2201 for County Auditor, Young 2824 over Nicola 2356 for County Clerk, Parker 2826 over Nichols 2191 for County Recorder, Brookhart 2802 over Kellogg 2309 for County Attorney, Mathews 2776 over Coon 2287 for Board seat. Majority margins range from 308 to 497.

Will of Mrs Todd Leaves Gift to First U P Church

In the will filed with the county clerk one quarter of Mrs Todds estate goes to the First U P church to fund its yearly needs. Pro bate is set for this week. Mr Todd leaves 2000 dollars which the church receives as part of the estate. Mrs Fred L Miller and two sons arrive as guests of her parents Mr and Mrs Chas Miller and Mr Miller takes a new job with a Waterloo furniture firm and will join his wife after her visit.

Notice to pay carrier boys on the fourteenth

The notice states that due to carrier boys being in school collections will be made tomorrow the fourteenth instead of the fifteenth. Recipients are urged not to tell the boys to call at the office and to ensure payment if the carrier has their slip.

Last evening Mr. and Mrs. Frank Webb hosted Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Griffith and friends for an ice cream supper in honor of Ma. McKinley’s victory. If Bryan had won, Griffiths would have entertained the families. The cream was praised as first-class by Mr. Griffith.
