Vetter Named Campaign Chair for Retarded Children Drive
Keith Vetter was named Washington County fund drive chairman for the Association for Retarded Children. He will lead the campaign November 15 to 22 to raise funds for local educational programs, develop new services, and support national research benefiting retarded children. Vetter is a longtime Washington County resident and local business owner with prior leadership in civic groups and state service. The county group participates in scholarships, summer recreation, canteen privileges, and special education support, with no formal city drive planned.

Bomber crashes in Montana pasture
A large B52 bomber from Larson Air Force base crashed and burned in a Montana ranch pasture near Vida, killing six of seven crewmen. Glasgow Air Force Base recovery teams found six bodies. the seventh crewman’s fate was unknown. The crash occurred shortly after 11 p.m. in Robert Clarence Chamberlain’s Vida-area pasture.
