Representative Karl LeCompte said the War Department will hold a hearing Tuesday in Washington to reconsider locating the Seventh Corps area training center at Rolla Missouri rather than near Lineville. He cited Army engineers reporting insufficient water supply for 33 000 troops, explaining the move from Iowa.
Fernet Nuhn, Cedar Falls art devotee and writer, named president of the newly organized Cedar Falls Art Association. Mrs. Pawl Bender elected secretary and Helen Lentz, superintendent of Cedar Falls public schools, and Nancy Price appointed to form a junior organization.
William Kilpatrick, about 72, proprietor of the Bon Ton Baking Co, was struck in the downtown section by an auto that failed to stop. He had just parked and was crossing the street, was taken to Mahaska hospital with shock and a fracture to a right leg.
Waterloo reports an attempted holdup at a downtown drugstore ended when manager Charles Lyons fought off a youth who attacked him from behind after closing time. Lyons said he struck back and the assailant fled.
Chris Loseth, a 74 year old merchant in Council Bluffs, suffered head injuries in a struggle with a bandit who produced a toy pistol. He grappled with the man who fled without loot, and investigators note the injuries may threaten his sight.
Dr Isaac Starr of the University of Pennsylvania will speak at the University of Iowa on the ballistocardiograph a bed sized table suspended from the ceiling that oscillates with the heartbeat. Roger Sherman of Washington county Red Cross urges greater roll call enrollment during November 11 to 30. He notes over two and a quarter million trained in first aid, with rapid growth since 1935 driven by highway first aid stations and mobile units and wider training of workers and civilians nationwide.
At the Iowan junior college conference in Des Moines officers for the coming year were elected. Dean Harland Mead of Washington was named president and re elected to the executive committee for a three year term. W L Sanders of Creston was secretary treasurer and Gerald Shepherd of Eagle Grove became a new committee member. Plans were laid for the state junior college basketball tournament to be held in Port Dodge February 27 to March 1. An IRS representative attended the conference to discuss taxes on junior college athletic event admissions. Further details will follow.
Mrs. Kr. L. Wratten of Marshalltown suffered a fractured arm when the Wratten car and a truck side swiped near New Sharon. The car rolled into an 18 foot ditch.
Leslie Dunlap will serve as acting chief clerk of the Selective Service board and oversee the second floor office in the Old National Bank building. Registrants are advised to contact him during 8 AM to 5 PM hours. LeHoma Johnson remains secretary. Dunlap will retain duties at the Washington Federal Savings Loan Association while spending part of his time at the board office.
A West Liberty crash involved five cars but only three drivers. Victims include Herman Ewert of Davenport and Melvin Whit and Wesley J. Rasmussen of Harlan. Ewert’s wife, 68, suffered bruises and shock.
A collision occurred and the truck did not stop afterward. Police investigation focuses on the driver and vehicle involved, seeking witnesses and security footage to determine fault and potential charges.

A blizzard with heavy waves halted the search for a U S Army plane believed to crash into Spirit Lake while en route from St Paul to Omaha. The craft carried three Fort Crook servicemen Lieutenant Robert Prange Lieutenant G Smith and Private Cerratto who were due to land at Fort Crook at 6 p m local time.
London reports a state funeral planned for former Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain who died at his Hampshire country home at 71. He had resigned October 3 and sought peace before Britain entered the war. Government leaders paid tribute as funeral arrangements began.
Belle Plaine farmer Jake McCune fixed up apples for his children and grandchildren this year. He carved the children's names on paper and glued them to the fruit so the names would appear when the apples ripened and later washed off the paper.
Cora Teller aged about 85, formerly of Washington, died yesterday morning in Sioux Falls after a period of ill health. Funeral services are planned for tomorrow with burial in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where other family members rest.
Washington DC November 11 UP The death of Senator Key Pittman chairman of the senate foreign relations committee was expected to lead to stronger administration demands to adjourn congress this week The senate meets tomorrow and will recess immediately as a mark of respect for Pittman who died yesterday of a heart attack in Reno Nevada
H H Hodapp of Sioux City sustained severe eye injury when the end of a whip he was cracking struck his eye, according to the incident report.
The unnamed man accused in the murder of Mrs. Tom Holt a Graham Texas ranchwoman is charged after Jack Parker age 35 a horse trainer was found shot to death in a truck with Mrs Holt's daughter Mrs Lawrence Harman or Harman the railway context not confirmed.
British fighter planes shot down enemy craft and pushed German raiders back from London on Armistice Day. Axis aircraft attacked all night, causing extensive damage while over 100 German raiders crossed the southeast coast in two waves seeking shipping.
Moscow dispatch notes Praven saying tremors spread northeast from Roumania and were felt in Bethsarabia and southern, central Ukraine and Moscow. Mrs. Mary FE Johnson was called to Wayland this morning by the sudden death of her niece's daughter Jeanette Watkins, daughter of Mr and Mrs Russell Watkins. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 pm in the J R Oswalt home in Wayland.

Ed Vittetoe, 36, of two miles southeast of town, died at University Hospital Iowa City after a late Saturday crash west of North Liberty. Nine in Vittetoe car and five in the Sentman vehicle were hospitalized. several siblings and relatives listed as survivors. Funeral plans by Jones funeral home, Vittetoe born January 20, 1904, married August 1926.
