Grain cars derail on Milwaukee Road near Davenport
Eight cars of a Milwaukee Road freight derailed on the west edge of Davenport around 1:30 am. All derailed cars carried grain and the main line to Kansas City was blocked. No injuries reported and the cause was unknown as Savanna crews worked to clear the wreckage around 8 am. The duration of the blockage was not yet known.

About 1000 mourners filled Trinity United Methodist Church for the memorial service as investigators hunted a blue car seen near the Mark house and explored possible links to a Wisconsin triple homicide.

Two Men Injured In Morning Crash At Highways 92 And 1
Two men were hospitalized after a mid morning collision at highways 92 and 1 north of Washington. Roy D. McClary of Cedar Rapids stopped at a stop sign and pulled into the path of a truck driven by George Ogden Shelman of Washington. McClary suffered major chest injuries and severe head cuts. Shelman had minor head injuries. Vehicle damage was estimated at 6500 for the car and 4700 for the truck. McClary was charged with failure to yield.
