Mystery Surrounds Automobile Collision Near Oakland Iowa
A head on crash Saturday near Oakland Iowa left one dead and nine injured. State Patrol Lieutenant Lloyd Meyer said the investigation approached a dead end and that both cars likely were on the wrong side of Highway 6. The deceased was Mrs Virgil Wright of 2130 East Twenty fifth Street Des Moines who died at Jennie Edmundson Hospital after the crash.

Eardley Bell 73 long time Washington county attorney died at home after a two week illness from a heart attack. Funeral services are set for Tuesday at 2 pm at Wellman Methodist Church with Rev. R. W Piwell officiating and burial in Wellman cemetery. Powell funeral home handling arrangements. Bell practiced law in Wellman 46 years, the county’s longest serving legal practitioner. A native of England he grew up in Iowa county near Wellman. his father Eardley Bell Jr. died last year at 109.
