Fined 300 for log theft in Washington County
A rural Brighton man Lathor A. Guy 53 pleaded guilty to larceny of logs an indictable misdemeanor before District Judge Ira F Morrison. He was fined 300 suspended three months jail and placed on probation for a year with Court Services. The theft occurred between August 25 and 30 from Hill Brothers Veneer Co near the Skunk River north of Brighton.

Attorney shot in Greenwich Village a potential witness slaying
Former Manhattan assistant district attorney Gino Gallina, 42, was killed in Greenwich Village as he and a woman were shot after leaving his car. Gallina faced a federal bankruptcy fraud probe in New Jersey and had immunity granted by Judge Herbert Stern. Gallina died at St Vincent's Hospital around midnight. the female companion was injured.
