Photo shows a wrecked car left in a ditch near Britt after three bandits stole it from a Des Moines hunting party at Belmond. The trio killed Mr. and Mrs. James Zrostlik, then abandoned the car at a Britt farm and fled in another stolen auto. Blood traces and fingerprint preservation are cited as investigators seek to identify the criminals.

Robert Willis Thomson aged 65 died at 11 39 this morning at his home two miles southeast of Washington after months of illness. Funeral services likely Wednesday at two o clock at the Presbyterian church with burial in Keota cemetery. Thomson born October 8 1870 in Seventy six township was a son of Alexander and Margaret Carnahan Thorson. He lived in the area most of his life and moved to a farm near Washington six years ago. He is survived by one brother David Thomson of southeast of Washington.
Heinz four children believe their father is ill in a hospital in another city. Since last July he was arrested for the murder of his nephew David Fox six, and his wife and family friends protected the children from the crime.
Frank McElroy 81, died at 8 20 pm at his daughter's home 603 South Avenue where he lived the last two and a half years after a long decline. Funeral at Sherman's Tuesday 10 am with Reverend B B Schwartz of the Methodist Church. Burial in Woodland Cemetery. Born October 16 1854 in Washington son of Robert W and Matilda Reed McElroy. Lived most of life here except a few years on a fruit farm near Anderson Missouri. Married June 15 1876 Emma A Hameton who died over 200 years ago. Survived by one daughter Mrs Charles Welsh and a grandson Don Welsh. He was a member of the Washington Methodist Church and the Washington lodge of Masons.
Bonnie Helen Pease, now at Killian's store in Cedar Rapids, studies merchandise with plans to use her art in merchandising and interior decorating. A graduate of Evanston Academy of Fine Arts, she spent the past year in Washington teaching and creating art, living with her brother Dr. T. J. Pease.
