Suicide in Dubuque by Mrs. Fred Pike

A refined lady, Mrs. Fred Pike, committed suicide by hanging in Dubuque last night. No cause is given. A separate item reports Irving Rogers from Cedar Rapids killed in a Northwestern freight wreck at Dixon, IL. Epworth Leaguers elect officers with Des Moines likely to host next convention.

Fond du Lac Doctor Charged in Opium Abuse Case

Dr George M. Gillett of Chicago, son of Mrs Corrinne L. Gillett, arrested in Fond du Lac for abusing his elderly mother. She alleges confinement and starvation threats, with daily opium purchases totaling $0.75 and several $5 consignments from Chicago. The doctor pleaded not guilty and awaits examination, posting bonds until Nov 9.

Assault at Racine over street car fare dispute erupts into arrest

In Racine Wisconsin on Thursday a dispute over street car fare led to a fight. Motorman Fred Benson is under arrest and Policeman Schumacher is badly bruised. Benson was fined 50 dollars and costs 60.11 dollars. The officer received further injuries after demanding the motorman's name. Separately papers were filed in a $5 000 damages suit by Policeman Schumacher against the Milwaukee Street Railway company for his daughter's death at the hands of a car last August.

Trial News From St Joseph Court Case On Murder Charge

In a St Joseph circuit court murder trial the deceased is identified as William Hawkins 65 head carpenter for Grand Trunk at Port Hope Canada. Yacht and party go down in howling gale

In a gale off Millers, Indiana the schooner Chiquita went ashore. By morning the body of owner D. S. Way of Charlevoix, Michigan was found. His wife and a young man Rollin Frazine also of Charlevoix were lost. The trip to Florida was for business and pleasure, centered on photography. Way had lived on Lake Michigan and owned several craft, traveling between ports in various ventures.
