Hoffa attorney found guilty in jury tampering case

Z T Osborn Jr former Hoffa attorney was convicted of attempting to fix a jury in Hoffa s trial and acquitted on bribery of a juror in a related conspiracy case The verdict came after nearly three hours of deliberation Osborn 44 faces up to five years in prison and a $5000 fine while Hoffa remains free on appeal bonds and continues to challenge the 1962 conspiracy verdict.

Honolulu talks loom on Laos and Vietnam policy review

A vital parley of the Joint Chiefs of Staff met briefly at the State Department. President Johnson plans a Honolulu meeting Monday and Tuesday with top foreign policy and defense aides to review Southeast Asia issues including Laos and South Vietnam. Attendees will include Rusk, McNamara, Taylor, McCone, Lodge, and other U.S. diplomats. Few Contests Mark June Primary in Washington County

Washington County faces a sparse slate with only one Republican nomination for a county board seat and limited state level contests. Memorial Day traffic toll tops 100 deaths

United Press International reports the Memorial Day holiday traffic toll surpassed the 100 mark early today with a total of 133 killed in traffic crashes since the holiday weekend began. The National Safety Council warns the peak danger hours are still ahead as final counts are awaited.

Municipal pool to open Monday for 1964 season

Washington's municipal swimming pool will open for the 1964 season on Monday. Pool manager Harold Stevens said work preparatory to opening was to be completed over the weekend, and he reported progress today.

Laos neutralists seek meeting with Pathet Lao leader

President Johnson addressed 20 graduates at Lyndon B. Johnson High School in Johnson City Texas, urging a world free from war and suspicion. He tied national strength to education, health, and fighting social injustice, warning nations failing these tasks fall to second class status. He noted he once led the school as a student and will receive an honorary UT Austin degree with Mrs. Johnson.

Presbyterians plan joint church school to commence June 1

California GOP duel shifts to Goldwater Rockefeller clash

United Press International reports California Republicans Barry Goldwater and Nelson Rockefeller trading verbal blows as the state prepares for 86 convention votes in Tuesday's primary. Final Cub Scout meeting of season

Cub Scout Pack 243 held their final pack meeting at the fair grounds with a potluck supper for the Cubs and families. Cubmaster Rodney Davis led the opening and quiz on requirements, followed by flag pledge as group skits entertained. Awards included wolf badges for Danny West Ronnie Loeffler John Heilman Russell Banister Dennis Sutherland Randy Martin, bear badges for Brad Eastland Marvin Crim, silver arrow under the wolf for Danny West, and gold arrow under the wolf for Danny West. Rose buds were presented to Susan Gilmore Maxine West Wilma Martin Donna Caldwell and Lois Higgins. The meeting concluded with ice cream and Indian dances around the open camp fire.

Washington Centennial Farm Machinery Display Planned

President Robert Jones announces a collaboration between the Washington Chamber of Commerce and the Washington County Farm Bureau to stage a Washington Centennial display June 9 to 14. Old and new machinery will be shown with implement dealers aiding collection and transport. Dick Wiley says Farm Bureau Young People will host in the evening and assist on Good Neighbor Day Saturday. An open house with refreshments and 12 minute films on capitalism and free enterprise will be shown. Farm Bureau Building rest rooms will be open all week. everyone is welcome.

Kennedy grave eternal flame draws 100000 visitors

Arlington observers expected more than 100000 people to pass the eternal flame at President John F. Kennedy's grave as relatives joined a brief ceremony. A wreath was laid at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the Kennedys later flew to Hyannisport for a televised birthday tribute.
