Mr and Mrs Karl Kos of three miles east of Richmond received a letter from Major General N F Twining of the 15th Air Force about Staff Sergeant Kenneth C Kos reported missing after his B 24 bomber was shot down over enemy territory during a mission to Bad Voslau Austria on April 12 1944 The general says three parachutes left the disabled ship and expresses hope Kenneth is a prisoner of war or is safely returned to Allied control He has been overseas since January and served as a gunner on hazardous missions earning praise for his conduct and spirit.

Sailors Memorial Service Held at Crooked Creek Bridge
At nine o'clock this morning a memorial service for sailors buried at sea was held at the Crooked creek bridge southwest of town. Herman Schoonover read the ritual, Stanley McKeown spoke, flowers were cast on the water, and Taps was played by Ronnie Baker.
