About 200 members of Epsilon Pi Tau the national honorary fraternity in vocational education are expected to travel from 11 states for ceremonies marking the creation of a chapter at Cedar Falls Iowa State Teachers College. Ten local members will participate in the ceremonies.
A man identified as a Bo lander is in critical condition at St. Joseph hospital after he and his daughter Genevieve were poisoned by eating meat. The illness triggered a stroke in the father, while Genevieve remains not in serious condition.
Richard Mereach, 16, was critically wounded when his shotgun discharged while pigeon shooting with Virgil Peters in New Hampton. The pellet struck his face near the ear. doctors say he has an even chance of recovery.
Mrs. Linderman presents to Emmetsburg High School a collection of over 200 Iava bird and animal specimens from the private museum of W. L. Linderman, a local businessman who died years ago.

Edward L. O Connor former attorney general files suit in Polk County District Court seeking 2166.84 dollars in back pay claimed under a 1933 legislative salary reduction act. The act was declared unconstitutional by the Iowa Supreme Court on December 11 1994.
M. E. Leininger of Boone says hail remained in banks after a Wednesday storm near Ogden, bringing a sack of hail to Boone on Friday to prove the point as temperatures hovered around 80 on Thursday and 84 on Friday.
Marshalltown named defendant in a $1,000 damage suit filed by Otto Richeson for his 18 year old son Robert after an arrest at a beer parlor on May 27. The petition claims the city allowed the establishment to sell beer and intoxicants to a minor, and seeks damages from the city rather than the parlor.
A spokesman for the American Medical Association censured modern health and beauty practices and weight loss diets. He warned fruit juice diets leave thousands unhappy after abandoning three meals, noting they originated in Hollywood and caused starved figures and early deaths among film stars.
Minburn reports its algebra class tops the state in the annual pupil contest. Finals of the high school brain derby will be held in Town City on June 7 and 8. The district also notes top state rankings in world history ninth grade English and algebra and eleventh grade literature.
Washington readies for annual tribute to fallen soldiers with a Monday program beginning at 9 15 am in Central Park. A 10 am parade to Woodlawn and Elm Grove cemeteries will honor veterans with speeches by Dr. Arthur Atack and Robert Oakley and Taps by four buglers.

Mr and Mrs Harry Dicker arrived yesterday from Des Moines to spend a week with Mr and Mrs WB Dupuis for the graduation activities of the class of 1927 in which Ruth Dupuis is a member.
A champagne bottle sealed in a vat or vitage remains from the club’s founding was discovered, preserving a ceremonial link to the original formation. The artifact is described as a bottled memory tied to the club’s early days.

Mrs Margaret Florang 62 was discovered in bed at 6 am in Riverside while caring for neighbor Mrs Mary Schneider. Authorities suspect heart attack. Funeral set for St Marys Riverside with Rt Rev Bernard Jacohameier officiating. Survived by four daughters, one son, two brothers and one grandchild.
Norman, Max Waterhouse of Brighton, L. F. Dunn of Kalona and Geo. J. Norman attended a divisional sales meeting by Ocelwein Chemical at Cedar Rapids. The session, part of a midwest tour, trained salesmen to improve service in feeds for livestock and poultry, featuring a sound motion picture on profitable mineral feeding. The company marks 26 years of mineral feed distribution, directed by J. L. Elliott and a team including L. B. Palmer, Win. H Murphy, and Ole Bushland.

Washington May 29 41. Treasury drafts bill to curb tax evasion by high income brackets and raise surtax on holding companies to capture 400 million dollars in evaded taxes. Proposal predicts rates near 20 percent up to 2000, 30 percent to 100000, 40 percent to 500000, 50 percent to 1,000,000, and 60 percent above 1,000,000.
An agent named George J. Norman in Washington clarifies he is not the George Norman arrested by Sheriff Putnam for stealing soybeans. He notes his address and phone remain the same as in a previous Journal advertisement and says he cannot be reached at the county jail, as there are two men with the same name in the area.
Frank Wright of Tulsa Oklahoma will preach tomorrow morning at the United Presbyterian church. There will be no evening service due to the union baccalaureate service in the Methodist church.
Miss Opal Geret of Riverside will travel to the home of her sister on North Winchester in Chicago for a visit beginning next week.
In Wolcott Iowa on a rainy day Mr and Mrs John Harris of Dewitt were killed when their coupe collided with a trailer truck. Willard Reynolds 19 son of Mrs Harris was seriously injured. Paul Sumner of Des Moines driver of the truck was jailed without charge pending an inquest tonight. The deaths push 1937 Iowa highway fatalities to 172.
Miss Hannah Luithly travels to Des Moines to spend the weekend with Miss Sara Sareone who soon departs for Washington to serve as secretary to J. C. Lewis head of the Iowa Federation of Labor. Sareone has contacts among several Washington locals.
Loyalist government aircraft bombed the rebel airfield at Siorra after an attack on Valencia. About 50 rebel planes were reported at the field, and most were destroyed in the retaliatory raids. Foreign diplomats fled the capital as relief workers combed ruins for victims. In Palma Majorca, six Italian officers were killed aboard a merchant ship by loyalist air raiders, prompting threats of stricter action by Italy.
Maurice Brayton announces a summer music school at Washington High Gym opening May 1 and running to August. Enrollment ends next week. Morning courses include flute oboe French horn bassoon cornet clarinet trombone and tuba with beginner and intermediate levels. Afternoons focus on solo work with 1:30 and 2:15 sessions and Tuesday evening rehearsals. high school band meets at seven.
Dr L Walsh health unit director and Miss Stella Jorpe school nurse inspected children in parochial and public schools at Riverside yesterday. The service was conducted in cooperation with school authorities and under their sponsorship.
