County Bastile Holds 13 Year Old Inmate

Two inmates lie in the county Bastile. One is Fred Farber of Brighton serving a three day sentence for malicious mischief. The other, a 13 year old boy named Joseph Wagoner, was taken in by Sheriff Teeter after wandering town begging for money to go to Greely Colorado. The sheriff will detain the boy until outside parties are heard from.

Runaway buggy injures Centennial teachers during city ride

Walter Laughead drove a three seater carrying his sister Miss Nannie Laughead and Miss Myra Shaffer when a broken neck yoke caused the tongue to drop and the team to bolt. The crash threw all three out. Miss Nannie was hurt, Miss Shaffer uninjured, Walter suffered a mashed nose. Several residents, including Bert Morrow and Dr. others, were seen about the scene as the team was recovered near the Creamery.

Decoration Day Arrangements for Cemetery Observance

Tomorrow schedule begins at 9 a m with grave decorating at the Old cemetery. At 4 p m the G A R, veterans, Brass Bands, the Washington Independent Battery, schools and civic groups meet at the Park for a procession to the Elm Grove Cemetery grove for ceremonies with Rev. Stark Logue and possibly Givler.

Mrs. Hervey Bell Hosts Ladies at Her Home

Mrs. Hervey Bell entertained a group of guests with a multi course supper at her residence last evening. The attendees included Mrs. Wickersham of Chicago and several local and regional women. The Ottawa Herald note recalls Mike King being hanged in Helenwood Tennessee for murder, the county's first legal execution and a large crowd witnessed.

Marriage of Ola Babcock and Alex R Miller in Iowa

Last night at the bride’s parents home in Washington Iowa Ola Babcock wed Alex R Miller editor of the Democrat. Rev J C W Coxe officiated before about sixty relatives and friends with a pearl trim gown and a three course reception. The couple will begin housekeeping on the heights with warm wishes from the Journal.

Trial of Albert McKinstry on Harness Theft

The case of Albert McKinstry for stealing a harness was continued before Squire Maxwell. Patterson led the defense in the morning and resumed arguing this afternoon.
