Renfro infant twins die in Iowa City
Keota parents mourn the loss of infant twins John Vance Renfro and John Venable Renfro born shortly after midnight at University Hospitals in Iowa City. One died at 4 30 a.m. and the other at 11 a.m. Graveside rites are planned Thursday in Keota with Rev. Orrin Potter officiating and Powell Funeral Home handling arrangements. The boys are survived by their parents five sisters and three brothers.

Rodeo Planned by Wayland Saddle Club This Week

Rev Latta to receive honorary doctorate at Simpson College

Tom Dawson an 11 year old from Route 1 Washington has his letter printed in the June issue of Jack and Jill maritime the 25 year old children’s monthly. The letter describes his uncle’s wedding where he was a groomsman his brother spilled rice and his sister was a junior bridesmaid. Tom will receive a framed Certificate of Merit signed by the publisher. Mrs. Decia Pugh aged 71 died in her Richland sleep after a heart illness. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 p.m. at Gould Funeral Home with Rev. Albert R. McMurrin officiating. burial in Richland Highland Cemetery. She was born in Richland Jan 19 1893 to J H and Janetta Harlan Wade and taught in Keokuk County before returning to Richland as a postal clerk. She married Frank Pugh in 1918. he died in 1941. Survivors include two sisters, one brother, a niece and a nephew.

Members of the 872nd Ord. Co. (DAS) in Washington participated in a test practice assembly and passed the experiment with flying colors. Capt. Jones and Capt. Edsall Brown assisted and were pleased. Notice of the practice was reserved at 6 10 p.m. Monday and within two hours 75 percent of the unit arrived at the reserve center on North Marion Avenue. Ninety percent of the 91 percent contacted arrived promptly.
