German POWs Found Hiding at Des Moines Camp Latrine
The FBI reported guards at the Alagona prisoner of war Camp located two German prisoners, Karl Braun, 24, and Harri Schippmann, 22, hiding in an attic of a latrine. Discovered at 8:35 p.m. Friday during a camp shake down after they had escaped Thursday from the guardhouse. They had already attempted an escape from the same camp last Saturday.

Two Men Arrested In Theft of Mail
Police identified Harry R. Winkleback and Paul E. Ralston as the suspects in a sack mail theft while moving from the Minneapolis and St. Louis railroad to the North Western depot. The men in army uniforms admitted AWOL from Camp Luis Obiapo since May 1 and were held for postal and army authorities. The theft involved rummaging the mail and burning it in a Marshalltown basement.

Suit Against Doctor Dismissed by Court
A Polk County court dismissed a $190,000 suit brought by L. W. Laughlin of Mount Ayr against Dr Russell Doolittle, medical director of the Retreat Des Moines sanitorium, alleging imprisonment of Mrs Neff to influence a divorce. Laughlin also sought $199,600 from Mrs Peff of Mount Ayr. Peff had been a patient at the Retreat, claiming the divorce motive. Peff offered $260 monthly for the wife's care, while the father demanded $200,000.
