Two Die In Headon Collision Near Mechanicsville Iowa
A head on crash on Highway 30 a mile east of Mechanicsville killed Lee Frederick 24 of Solon and W B Mohler about 50 of York Nebraska driving a meat truck. Two other Solon residents, George Kucera 27 with a back injury and Marie Pata 18 with a broken nose and tongue injuries, were taken to Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids.

A man using the name Harry Campbell from Seymour Iowa pleaded guilty to petty larceny in Justice of the Peace court and was sentenced to 30 days in Washington County jail. He admitted stealing about a dozen pairs of hosiery from McLellan store and claimed two wrist watches were not stolen in Washington. Campbell, 63, said he was a barber without a license and will have his record checked during the sentence. He was arrested Saturday night by Officer Mark Pratt.
