A Washington Community School bus rolled over on Highway 1 near Duensing corner after rain caused slick roads. Driver Joan Dunbar and three passengers escaped unhurt as children were mostly delivered home.

Immunization Program Opens Third Series in Washington County
The County Medical Society with the Iowa State Department of Health and County Health Nursing Service offers the third series of pre school immunizations in Washington County. Public Health Nurse clinics run from 1 to 2 pm on the last Tuesday of June July August September and October with Smallpox in September and Rubella in October. Children with heart disease asthma hay fever or allergies should be immunized at their family physician’s office. Immunization is described as a parental responsibility.

Iowa Senate approves omnibus tax and school aid bill
After six days of debate the Iowa Senate passed an omnibus tax and school aid bill 26 to 22 as two Republicans switched from no to yes. The measure would raise about 112 million through sales income and corporate tax hikes to fund a new school aid distribution, property tax relief for the elderly and disabled, a low income sales tax credit, and direct aid to cities and towns.
