Jets misfire strike ally base in Viet Nam war
Four American jets accidentally attacked a South Vietnamese base near the northern border wounding five soldiers. One bulldozer was destroyed and another damaged as the planes strayed off course. US sources say 25,000 more combat troops will reinforce South Vietnam within two months, taking total U.S. forces to about 70,000. Premier Phan Huy Quat announced a cabinet reshuffle amid unrest, with changes in interior and psychological warfare ministries. Initial reports suggested the attacking planes might be Soviet MIG fighters, later described as presumed.
