Presbyterians plan for vacation school start June 1

Hughes hints at veto on senior tax relief bill in Iowa

Des Moines officials report Governor Harold E. Hughes signaled possible veto of a proposed tax relief bill for low income elderly and disabled homeowners. Saturn I launches Pegasus satellite into orbit

CAPE KENNEDY America celebrated a dramatic after dark Saturn I lift off as the 188 foot rocket carried the Pegasus satellite into orbit. The 96 foot wide wings unfolded after orbital insertion to study space debris hazards for Apollo missions while the craft completed a near circular path every 97 minutes at altitudes between 316 and 466 miles. Scientists expect a three year mission.

Missionaries speak at service tonight at Nazarene Church

Rev and Mrs Armand Doll, furloughed missionaries from Mocambique Africa, speak at 7:30 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Washington. Doll pastored the Tavane main station church and worked in the day and Bible schools since arriving in Africa. He has been Limpopo district superintendent since 1958 and regional superintendent since 1960. Mrs Doll teaches and pastors. Special music noted. public invited.

Weather outlook for Iowa amid scattered showers

United Press International reports considerable cloudiness in Iowa through Wednesday with 30 percent shower and thunderstorm coverage tonight and over 30 percent in the central and southeast areas Wednesday morning. Cool downs across the northwest tonight with lows 65 to 78. Wednesday highs reach 70s in the northwest and 80s elsewhere, with Thursday expecting partly cloudy and cooler conditions.
